ABOUT SANDY RANSOM
Sandy Ransom traveled throughout the United States as a child. Her parents taught her from an early age to look at the world surrounding her. She has always felt a special peace when out-of-doors, and that feeling is translated in her paintings.
She began oil painting in 2003 after a brief experimentation with watercolor. She also paints with acrylics and enjoys shifting between the two media while continuing to discover techiques unique to both.
Her studio is in the small town of Wimberley, located in the inspiring and beautiful hill country of Texas. Her subject matter is drawn from nature as she continues to travel extensively, and her paintings, primarily landscapes, reflect glimpses of beauty that are found in a variey of places.
Sandy received an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana and a master's degree from Texas State University. She studies will Lilli Pell and has taken workshops with Gay Faulkenberry, Ann Templeton, and Phillip Wade.
